Connect. Collect. Understand.
LifeMove links enrolled participants' Fitbit and Google Health accounts to their research study, so the study team can measure activity, sleep, and heart rate as outcomes — without participants doing any manual logging.
About LifeMove
LifeMove is operated by the RICH Heart Team to support its research studies. Enrolled participants connect their own Fitbit or Google Health account, and LifeMove then retrieves their activity data on the study's behalf so the research team can review it. LifeMove is not a consumer fitness product and is not open to the public — accounts are created only for participants enrolled in a study and for authorized research staff.
Connect your own wearable
Participants link the Fitbit or Google Health account they already use — no new device required.
Research-only access
Access is read-only and used only for the study a participant is enrolled in.
You stay in control
Disconnect at any time. Disconnecting stops all further data collection immediately.
How LifeMove Works
Three steps, from linking a wearable to exporting study data.
Connect
A participant follows a personal connection link from their study team and signs in to authorize their own Fitbit or Google Health account.
Collect
LifeMove retrieves daily and intraday step, activity, sleep, and heart-rate data for the dates the participant is enrolled, and keeps it up to date automatically.
Review & Export
Research staff monitor each participant's sync status and data coverage, then export study data as CSV for analysis.
What data we access, and why
When a participant authorizes LifeMove, we request read-only access to the following data from their wearable account:
- Daily and intraday step counts
- Activity summaries — distance, floors, calories, and active minutes
- Sleep duration and sleep stage summaries
- Heart rate summaries
- Basic profile and paired device details, used to confirm the correct account is linked
This data is requested for one purpose: to measure participants' physical activity, sleep, and related measures as outcomes of the research study they enrolled in. Access is read-only — LifeMove never modifies data in a participant's wearable account.
Data is visible only to authorized research staff for the study a participant belongs to. It is not sold, advertised against, or shared with unauthorized third parties. Participants may disconnect their account at any time, which stops all further data collection.
For participants
If you are enrolled in a study, your research team will send you a personal connection link. You do not need an account on this page. If you want your data deleted or your account disconnected, contact your study team using the address below.
